Rape accused charged

Detectives attached to the St James Criminal Investigations Branch have laid criminal charges against 24-year-old Demar Dowe Scott, the man accused of raping two tourists in Montego Bay on Thursday, September 27.

Scott has been charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm; Illegal Possession of Ammunition; Assault with Intent to rob (two counts); Rape (two counts); and Grievous Sexual Assault (two counts).

Reports are that about 11:15 p.m., Scott forcibly entered the hotel room of two females, who are US nationals, and brandished a firearm before sexually assaulting them.

It is reported that one of the women relieved him of the weapon and shot him before he escaped. Following investigations, Scott was arrested and subsequently charged.

He is scheduled to attend the St James Parish Court on Wednesday.
