Special arrangements being made for Buju's return

December 07, 2018

Well-placed government sources say "special arrangements" have been made for the return of Buju Banton to Jamaica.

The grammy-winning entertainer, whose given name is Mark Myrie, was released from prison on Friday after spending eight years in prison for cocaine-related charges.

He is due to return to the island by Saturday.

Deportees are normally sent back from the United States on the last Thursday of each month.

However, well-placed sources say special arrangements have been put in place to facilitate the return of the artiste outside of the usual deportation schedule.

The STAR understands that the Til Shiloh artiste was picked up at the McRae Correctional Institution by a representative of the Jamaican embassy in Washington, and is set to leave the United States.
