UPDATE: States of Public Emergency to end in January 2019

The States of Public Emergency (SOPE) in St James, St Catherine North police division and sections of the Corporate Area, will end in January next year.

The St James SOPE will lapse on January 31, 2019, while emergency powers will cease to apply for St Catherine North on January 2.

The SOPE in sections of the Corporate Area will conclude on January 7.

Despite voting to cease the SOPEs, the parliament voted to extend the Zones of Special Operations in Mount Salem, St James, and the west Kingston community of Denham Town.
