Expect delays along a section of Spanish Town Road

Motorists who use the westbound section of Spanish Town Road between Weymoutth Drive and Six Miles should expect delays travelling along the corridor. This as works continues to replace a failed culvert.

Stephen Shaw, manager, communication and customer services at the National Works Agency (NWA), says that although the stretch  remains open, motorists are being advised to use alternate routes where possible to avoid delays.

Works commenced on the weekend to replace a failed storm water culvert, which has been the source of flooding along Spanish Town Road over the last month.

Shaw said that the heavy rains over the past 12 hours have caused some of the repaired areas to sink. Remedial work is now underway. He says that as the work to replace the defective culvert continues, motorists wishing to travel from the direction of Six Miles towards Portia Simpson Miller Square are being advised to do so, via Washington Boulevard and Weymouth Drive.
