Half-Way Tree clock tower bus bay to be closed temporarily

Effective 9 p.m. Friday, the bus lay by located in the vicinity of the Half-Way Tree clock tower will be closed for critical drainage improvement works.

The National Works Agency (NWA) will be replacing defective drain gratings at the location.

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw said that the whole process, which includes the removal of damaged gratings, will take upwards of five days to be completed.

The NWA said that to accommodate the works, rural stage carriage operators who usually set down passengers at the location are being asked to use North Odeon Avenue instead, then proceed on to Eastwood Park Road and Courtney Walsh Drive (formerly Derrymore Road) to get back on to Constant Spring Road.

The new arrangements will be monitored by the police and the Transport Authority.

The project is being undertaken at a cost of J$1.1 million.
