Raped at nine - Woman now fights to live a normal life

A 28-year-old Corporate Area resident says she has been living in fear since November 2019. The woman, who was abused as a child, claims to be receiving multiple death threats from a well-known gunman in her community after she refused to have sex with him. The woman says her life is in danger and is not able to continue living in such torment much longer.

“A big man wanted me to sleep with him … Him did a force himself on me, and because I said no, he is saying me diss him. Because of this, him have some yute in the community a watch me. Dem want me fi live ina fear; dem a threaten me, and all a follow me. This a gwaan from last year November,” she told THE WEEKEND STAR.

“Even when me nuh see dem, a somebody else dem send to threaten me and seh dem a go put me ina shallow grave.

“I’m just scared, because him have his friends to cover up if anything should happen. Everybody know him. Dem all a show me weapon.”

SPREADING Rumours

Since then, the woman says the man has been spreading rumours that she is a lesbian and has been sending his cronies to harass her in her home.

I was abused when I was nine, and just because I don’t want to lay myself careless to let people take advantage of me, dem bun me out. The truth is, I don’t care. I just want respect. I just want to live a normal life.”

The woman says she recently retained a lawyer after receiving death threats. She also said that she has reported the matter to the police.

“I am living in fear and I’m tired of it. I just want to be free to do as I please. I know that these boys are watching my every move. They are tormenting me and trust me, I’m fed up and frustrated with everyone and everything,” the distressed woman said.
