Dancehall artiste Gianni is no pushover. He has had to struggle to gain recognition in the tough world of local dancehall, but despite the odds, he has persevered.

Now, the charismatic deejay has

finally been getting a buzz with the single, Ride It, for Avikon Records. The racy song has been generating multiple spins on FM radio since its release several weeks go.

Born Jevaughn Tremaine Sutton, he grew up in Harbour View, Kingston, and attended Dunoon Technical High school. Even though he was somewhat reserved in high school, he would participate in impromptu dancehall sessions at school during breaks, where he

quickly built a reputation for his intricate rhyming schemes. When he left school, he teamed up with Avikon Records with whom he recorded several songs.

Before he started using the name 'Gianni' as his first official stage name, he was known as Jevy Sparkz. The first song he ever did professionally was Never Give Up in 2009.

"That song never got enough promotion, but I continued to record," he said.

Ride It is getting a buzz on radio with multiple spins between Suncity Radio in Portmore to DJ Raff on HITZ 92 and Kemar Genius from Radio Jamaica.

There are plans to shoot a promo video for Ride It next month. He has a single called I Don't Know on the Chase Mills Records label.
