Weeks before the Grand Final showdown of PAN-X, hosted by CB Foods, Camita Munroe was confident she would win. She was right. The shy 29-year-old made history last weekend by being the first person from Kingston and St Andrew to land the coveted CB pan chicken Champion title.

The occasion was even more special as Jamaica's largest food festival and cooking competition celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.

Munroe, who won the double at the Regional 1 elimination, repeated the feat on Sunday, taking both the grand prize and first place in the Grace Tomato Ketchup 'Ketch di taste' sauce competition for her Peanut Sweet & Spicy Jerk Sauce.

Though the judges said Camita stood out from the crowd, they noted that this year everyone brought their A game.

"I made the sauce on Saturday, and experimented at home. When I taste it, me say, you know what, da sauce here taste like the winning sauce. And even if I never win the competition itself, I would have been happy for even second place," Munroe said.

Sharing the stage with her were Peter Foster from Clarendon and Jermaine Hayes from Trelawny. They received $150,000 and $75,000, respectively, for second and third place as well as business grants from Jamaica National Building Society (JN).

Along with the CB PAN-X title, Munroe was awarded more than $1million in cash and prizes, including $300,000 from CB, a $250,000 business grant from JN, a year's supply of CB Chicken, a year's supply of Grace Tomato Ketchup and a tablet from FLOW, plus numerous gift packages.

In what was billed as a must-attend event, CB pulled out all the stops for PAN-X, the 10th staging of its annual pan chicken competition finale.

With its new venue packed to capacity, attendees sampled more than 28 variations of pan chicken, many other delectable food offerings and danced the night away with Chris Martin, Barrington Levy, Cham and surprise guest, Bounty Killer.

There were many attractions provided by the sponsors, especially FLOW which provided live streaming of the event and free wifi for patrons.

Beverage partner Pepsi Cola Jamaica brought along its famous football machine. Both children and adults stood in line for a chance to show off their football skills and were duly rewarded.
