Ffrench ready for the big times

Magnum Queen of Dancehall runner-up, Ffrench, has released her debut single, Hot Gal Luxury.

The deejay, who created waves while competing in the competition earlier this year, is looking to take her career to higher heights.

Ffrench, born Shantee Ffrench, recently signed with New York-based Dirtworx Records.

She explained how she made the link with Dirtworx Records.

"Well, it was about a month or two after competing in the Magnum competition that I got a link to Dirtworx through a mutual friend. I jumped at the opportunity, and, from then, Dirtworx has been my home," said Ffrench.

The deejay said she entered Magnum to get the exposure as well as for her love for music.

"My journey in the competition was hard and nerve-wrecking. It was also challenging, but a bit of fun at times, and it was for the best. Like any other young artiste, I entered to get the exposure because I have a passion for music," she said.

"Even though I placed second, I am still a winner in the eyes of many, but it helps in a big way because persons who didn't know before the competition, are now aware of me. So it basically placed me on a bigger platform."

The 22-year-old, originally from Crescent Road, St Andrew, is set to follow up Hot Gal Luxury with Wine and Bubble.
