True Identity, by dancehall artiste Bugle, has brought some attention to new kid on the block, Berta Records. Based in New York, the label has been around six years.

According to Tomique 'DJ Fresh' Williams, Bugle's reputation for creating thought-provoking lyrics was his decision to get the deejay involved on the Fresh Groove rhythm project.

"True Identity aggressively took on a life of its own, not only loved by Bugle's fans, but by reggae lovers around the world. It has been getting major airplay in the US, Europe and UK. The line "Dutty heart cyaa hide under clean clothes" is slowly but surely becoming a street anthem. Bugle has a reputation of creating thought-provoking music, and True Identity lived up to that expectation," said Williams.

The Fresh Groove rhythm features One in a Million by Jah Vinci, This Love by Kibaki, Attitude by IBlack Lion and You Got It by Soul Skelly.

"Bugle is one of the artistes I've always wanted to work with because of his ability, to tell stories through his music and Berta Records shares the same mission. So after completing the instrumental, it was a no-brainer to reach out to Bugle, and despite of us being a young production label, he didn't hesitate to work with us after hearing the riddim and our mission," Williams added.

Berta Records has worked with several artistes in Bronx, New York, but the Fresh Groove rhythm is their biggest project to date.
