Working in tandem with genre-bending and international sensations Diplo of Philadelphia and Jillionaire of Trinidad and Tobago, Walshy Fire has shown himself as a formidable character in the music industry with the ability to stand strongly behind his own projects.

After playing with the world-famous Black Chiney sound system for almost a decade, Walshy Fire became the tireless master of ceremonies of the sensational Major Lazer, sound system, and mega-hit producers, and has since been making his own moves.

Earlier this year, Walshy Fire collaborated with rising reggae star Kabaka Pyramid for the production of Accurate Mixtape. Now, the MC has curated the original soundtrack for the upcoming ski movie set for a fall release.

"I'm a Jamaican who's in one of the biggest groups in the world, and I don't know if anyone knows that," he told THE STAR.

Walshy Fire told THE STAR that he was approached by the film's director, Eric Iberg, to curate a film soundtrack.

The 25-minute film is called Be Inspired, and follows the antics and athletics of skiers Henrick Harlaut and Phil Casabon. Walshy Fire's process was more deliberate than asking musicians for contributions.

According to the soundtrack curator, his process involved pairing varied artistes for the most sensible but still quite unique sound.

"The skiers chose their favourite artistes, and I reached out," he said. "I paired the artistes on the production that made the most sense," he told THE STAR, giving the example of Raekwon of American hip-hop super-group Wu-Tang Clan and Jamaica's own Kabaka Pyramid.

According to Walshy Fire, combining the two artistes on a track together "made sense because they're so lyrical."

The theme of the soundtrack continues along the vein of crossovers and inter-connectivity, that Walshy Fire has been immersed in over the past few years of non-stop touring with Major Lazer.

The Be Inspired original motion picture soundtrack features the vocal stylings of Sizzla, Raekwon, Cormega, Kabaka Pyramid, Kardinal Offishall, Agent Sasco, Dillon Cooper, Masicka, Kirk Knight, Cali P, Randy Valentine, CJ Fly, and Machet.
