Toronto-based singer Visionary kicks off three weeks of promotional work this weekend in the West African countries of Ghana and Togo.

The dreadlocked artiste is scheduled to do radio interviews, recordings and shows, pitching his Grassroots album and new single, Little Green Apples.

It is Visionary's first time in Africa, a growing market for contemporary reggae acts.

The last 18 months have seen him do similar activities in England, Germany, Brazil, Dominica and Jamaica.

Born Michael Thompson in Above Rocks, St. Catherine, Visionary has been a fixture on the Toronto reggae circuit for over a decade.

He recently recorded Little Green Apples, a song made popular by Dennis Brown in the late 1960s.

In September, Visionary was awarded with the Dennis Emmanuel Brown Lifetime Achievement Award and the Excellence In Reggae Music Worldwide from Uprising Music & Entertainment Production.
