Jamaican producer Tarik 'Rvssian' Johnston has been the recipient of a platinum record for the second time.

Best known for his work with the popular incarcerated dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel, Rvssian extended his scope, and has reaped success through collaborating with American rapper Kevin Gates.

Kevin Gates' solo debut album called Islah was released in January, 2016.

The release followed a number of chart-topping singles, some of which were more controversial than others.

The singles include the September 2015 released song, The Truth, on which Rvssian is credited as the sole producer.

The Truth references one of the artiste's more troubling incidents since the beginning of his career, in which he kicked a female fan in the chest during a performance.

"[It] feels good to know I have been successful and accepted in multiple genres," Rvssian told THE STAR. "And also, thanks to Kevin Gates for giving me the opportunity and believing in me."

Islah debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 album chart, contains 15 tracks, including charting singles Really Really and 2 Phones.

The album peaked at number two on the R&B Hip Hop album chart, and reached number one on the Rap Album chart.

"I take it as a great accomplishment as a Jamaican, and also as a music producer because it is out of my box as far as the genre is concerned," Rvssian said.

Rvssian recently released a new single called, Privado, featuring Konshens, Nicky Jam, Farruko, and Arcangel.

The producer told THE STAR that the single has already garnered over 13 million views in just a few weeks, and is charting in the top five slots in over 12 countries on Spotify.
