Few new J’can albums make impression - New Kartel album debuts at 75

The iTunes Reggae Albums topmost tier changes very slowly and, when it does, it tends to go back to the accustomed pattern in very short order.

New Jamaican sets tend not to enjoy the good fortune of reaching the chart's upper echelons, so the recent releases are a bit far down the track. Inna de Yard's The Soul of Jamaica, with a listed release date of March 10, is at number 16, while the various artistes Satta Rebirth Riddim, is two places behind. Among the artistes on that project are Bugle, Anthony B, Jah Vinci, Mr G, Gyptian and Chris Martin.

NEW COMPILATION

Another new compilation, the Real Life Story EP, is at number 25. Among the vocalists are Tarrus Riley (featuring Zagga), Raging Fyah, Jesse Royal and Mr Williamz.

Queen Ifrica's Climb, which has a release date of March 7, is at number 38. A step behind it is the Humbug Riddim, on which Vybz Kartel has a couple cuts, as does Mavado, with Charly Black and Tifa also making contributions. At number 40 is the Motivation Riddim, where Chris Martin's Stop Violence Against Women, is the lead-off track. Jahmiel, Wasp, Vershon, Bugle and I-Octane also have songs on the project.

About a month after being released, Chris Martin's Big Deal is at number 72. The incarcerated Vybz Kartel's album Black & White, with a release date of March 10, is three places after at number 75. One place after that is the 47th Floor Riddim Reloaded, Vol. 2. Beenie Man has a pair of tracks and Busy Signal has one, with Ding Dong and Demarco on the set also.
