Curvy Diva gets sexier for music career
Although Yanique 'Curvy Diva' Barrett announced that she will be making changes to her image as she takes on a career as a recording artiste, she said the public should not expect the well-sculpted media personality to shelve her sexiness. In fact, she intends to add to it.
"Now I'm seen as a sex icon, but what's more important for me is to be seen as a fashion icon," she told THE STAR yesterday.
"I absolutely love dancehall fashion, but it will definitely be a fusion. I want to wear a lot of statement pieces. I'm gonna be wearing designer wears, all these stuff. Things that are different and trendy, that's the direction I'm going in. Stuff that is definitely fashion forward," she continued.
Yanique recently signed a recording deal with Good Good Production, and her very first single, Lifestyle, is slated for release in a matter of days.
Like her new image, Yanique told THE STAR that her music will follow dancehall style, but will also take from a variety of other styles.
"So, it's not only dancehall. It will definitely be different fusions, whether R&B or hip hop," Yanique said, adding that she will be a singjay.
Yanique told THE STAR that she intends to be open and honest with her fans through her recorded material.
"Everything will change. Persons will get to know me a little better because I put how I feel and what I'm going through in my songs. A lot of things that I don't talk publicly about will be addressed in my singles," she said.
"Everything will be addressed - whether past relationships, celebrity lifestyle, being a mom, whatever it is. It's just me laying out and just giving my opinions on a lot of stuff. People come at me, whether negative comments, and all of that. I just want to be free in using the music as a platform to really express myself. Whatever I'm going through or whatever I've been through, I'll be expressing through my music. So [you] can wait and look out for all that," she told THE STAR.
The aspiring artiste told THE STAR that her stage name will be 'The Curvy Diva', a name with which the public has become familiar.
"People forget the Yanique. It's so crazy. I love the name. I'm glad I chose it. It really expresses who I am. I am extremely curvy and that's just it. The Curvy Diva," said the hottie, who is the current host of Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall.
