Song featuring Popcaan breaks YouTube record
Recently, virtual British band Gorillaz announced the upcoming release of its fourth body of work called 'Humanz'.
Along with the announcement, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, the band's creators, released the visuals of the second single, Saturn Barz (Spirit House), which features the vocal talent of Jamaica's own 'unruly boss' Popcaan.
The song premiered on Thursday with the release of the music video, which comes in a standard version and a 360-degree version.
The 360-degree video received well over three million views in its first 48 hours (it has since surpassed five million), making it the biggest debut for a virtual reality music video in YouTube's history, which the service revealed exclusively to Billboard.
The standard version's views climbed to 14 million within a week of its release.
The band, made up of fictional animated characters 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs, made waves in 2001 with the release of its best-known single, Clint Eastwood.
Along with Popcaan, the album features other impressive collaborators, including Mavis Staples, Carly Simon, De La Soul, Pusha T, Danny Brown, and Vince Staples.
