Show Di Vybz recording artiste Chilando released his debut album Sweetest Gift yesterday. The album is distributed by Zojak Worldwide. It has 15 songs including That You Do, Memories, and Move Forward.
The St James-based artiste has been doing music professionally for the past seven years. Born Chilando Spencer, he is known for the song Life Too Short produced by Chimney Records.
Some of the producers featured on Sweetest Gift are ZJ Sparks, Adde Instrumental, Bad Bad Citizenz Entertainment and Full Charge Records.
Last weekend, Chilando performed at two major events over the Easter holidays, namely Get Loose, an all-white soca pool party, and the Montepelier Agricultural Industrial show.
Dancehall artiste Sudu has high hopes for his new single titled, The Story.
The song was released on his Dee Most I Records imprint on March 27.
"This is the first song that I've produced and released on my label, and I'm very pleased with the response it's getting. I believe this song has the potential to be a huge success. My team and I are putting a lot of promotion behind it," said the artiste.
Sudu is also working on several other projects for his label, including on a mixtape and an EP.
"Both projects will be released this summer. I'm also working on some new songs that I plan to release as singles later this year," he said.
Sudu launched his recording career in 2014 with the release of single titled Cool and Quiet on the Jah Wayne label.
The usually volatile Grants Pen community has not seen a rise in crime in over a year and recording artiste George P, who hails from the community, believes music has created an avenue for the youth to channel their focus.
George P, who is promoting a song titled Ghetto Cry, noted that selectors like Boom Boom and Harry Hype and artistes like Savage, Singing Sweet and Kibaki have managed to inspire the youth.
"The youth dem not trying to war, dem focused on more positive things and a music the thing deh. A over a year now the place peaceful and mi know sey a music cause that. A nuff icon inna music come from here, and the youth dem see that there are better options than guns so a that dem a go towards," he said.
According to George P, his music mostly targets the inner city as a form of social intervention.
"I also think other communities should look into using music as a crime-fighting mechanism, because if there is one thing that all Jamaicans have in common, it's music," he said.
