More than 40 of Jamaica's top fashion designers will come together to showcase the best in local fashion and clothing designs at the inaugural staging of Yaadie Fashion Week (YFW) in Montego Bay, St James, this summer.

The event is slated for August 10-19.

"Everybody thinks that Kingston is the capital of fashion, but what I have planned for Montego Bay this summer, YFW is going to be second to none," said Charles Douglas, the organiser and promoter of the fashion show.

The event was launched at The Wexford Hotel in the second city recently.

"We are pulling out all the stops to get people from every corner of the world here to showcase to them the best of what Jamaican fashion has to offer," Douglas said.

A number of invited international acts such as Keyshia Cole, Marques Houston and Omarion are expected to sign autographs in Sam Sharpe Square on Friday, August 17, before performing the following night at the Aqueduct. Douglas said that top local artistes Agent Sasco, Christopher Martin and I-Octane will perform at that show.

The fashion show will then culminate with big fashion show and beach party on Sunday, August 19, at the Hilton.

"We want to bring out everyone to come and watch the event, to see the designs on stage and want a piece of it to buy, and walk over a booth to buy it," Douglas stated. "So we aim to bring out the best designs at YFW," he added.
