STAR of the Month: Etana learnt lessons after Trump comments
During the 2016 US presidential campaign, STAR of the Month Etana was blasted by large sections of the public for saying she would vote for Donald Trump, while being interviewed in the lead-up to the
elections.
Known as a conscious artiste who sings uplifting songs, the My Man singer confesses that she is outspoken, which tends to hurt some persons whenever she speaks the truth.
Asked if there was anything she regretted or wished she could change in her life, Etana said: "No, because everything makes me who I am today. The only thing that I would have done differently, mi probably can't say it."
However, she was quick to point out that her Trump statement was not what she was speaking about.
"No, you think because I mentioned dah man deh di other day, a nuh dat," she said.
But she noted that if she had to do it over again, she wouldn't have said anything at all regarding the current commander in chief of the US.
"Mi can't say mi regret it because I learnt so much. Mi learn wul heap a things. I can just sit here and list about 15 things that I learnt. It was so important for me to learn all of them and to see some people for who they really were," she explained.
Even though freedom of speech exists, she says she is now careful about what she says.
"And I really thought that I am such a nice person and everybody is nice and everybody likes me. I can be so naive and sometimes it takes the hardest lesson for that naivety to die and it needed to die, and so I killed it," she told THE STAR.
