Boys implicated in stabbing death of Boy Walk student gets legal aid
The 14-year-old minor and two teenage boys who have been charged for the death of a Bog Walk High School student and injury of another have been provided with legal assistance.
The Legal Aid Council said attorney-at-law Saharee Smith has been assigned to represent the minor, while attorneys Michael Hayles and Cardena Clarke represent the teen boys.
The assignment of attorneys follows the Council's request for the charged minor to be held at a suitable facility, as well as a later request for medical attention for one of the detainees who has a head injury and is suffering from eye discomfort.
On Monday, Kevaughn Barnes, 16, and his schoolmate 17-year-old Ishmael Richards were reportedly attacked, while walking along the main road in Bog Walk by a group of teenage boys.
The attack reportedly stemmed from a long-standing dispute.
One of the attackers reportedly brandished a knife which he allegedly used to stab Kevaughn and Ishmael. They were assisted to the Linstead Hospital, where Kevaughn was pronounced dead and Ishmael admitted.
