Colleagues support Spice following foundation launch
Following the official launch of her Grace Hamilton Women Empowerment Foundation (GHWEF) on Sunday, dancehall artiste Spice is today being praised by her colleagues for the work she has started to positively impact the lives of women across the island.
D'Angel, one of the many female entertainers who turned up at the Eden Gardens Wellness Resort and Spa to support Hamilton, said she was pleased with the growth she has seen in her colleague.
Dubbing her more than just an artiste, D'Angel said Hamilton and her foundation will be a gift to many young women. She also said she was inspired by the event and would be supporting the foundation any way she could.
"Spice says she can't do it alone and I'm passionate about what she's doing as my co-worker and friend. I'm looking forward to being a sister to this programme. When we as public figures can come together, we can show the world that we are powerful and this (the foundation) is a power mission to push other women to believe in themselves," she said.
D'Angel, who last year unofficially launched We Can Survive, an initiative to help assist battered women, said Hamilton has inspired her to get her house in order and make her initiative an official one.
HIGH PRAISE
"It's not official as in registered or anything but we've been helping persons out from last year. When we kick down doors together as women in the business, nothing can inspire or empower more than that," she said.
Fellow artiste and close friend Pamputtae also had high praises for Hamilton.
"I love what she's doing because many people see artistes, especially females, and say 'Oh, Pamputtae dis and dat, or Spice dis and dat' but there's a lot more to us. Like Spice, me have my story too," she said. "At the age of 10, me did affi deh a town a sell and look my own tea and bread. Me have a message too weh can inspire somebody not to give up and Spice know she can count on me at anytime to help out."
Pamputtae added: "Any conference, any where she want me to go and help inspire and spread a good message, I'm there. I'm backing her 100 per cent."
Also present at the launch were entertainers Ce'Cile, Ikaya and Queen Ifrica, Miss Jamaica Universe 2017 Davina Bennett and St Ann Member of Parliament, Lisa Hanna.
