Nkosi sings about the 'Struggles'
Emerging reggae singer Nkosi is generating a lot of excitement in the local music industry with his breakout single, Struggles.
Produced by Ireland Records, the track was released two months ago and is available for purchase via VPal and other major digital platforms.
"The feedback has been great. We are getting good reviews daily. The fans always encourage me to stay in the reggae style. My mother has 10 children, [and] I am the last one. I come hear about the struggle, and in our day-to-day life, we struggle, so is everybody struggle, especially when the break nah break," Nkosi said.
"It was supposed to be a love song, but it turn into an inspiration song because we have a common struggle, both men and women, so it just turn out that way. My manager, David Ireland, even wrote the chorus, so it is a special song."
Nkosi seeks to embody positivity through roots reggae. This latest release seeks to elevate the minds and inspire the hearts of the downtrodden to persevere despite the odds.
"Sometimes, the victory is so close, but you have to believe in yourself and those closest to you. Everybody faces the pressure. Women face it from the family if the man they choose is not earning, but sometimes, if you persevere, the struggle is worth it," Nkosi said.
He has an upcoming show on August 4 alongside Merciless and Tanto Blacks, and he is also booked to perform at the annual show dubbed Soca Blowout on November 10 in Lionel Town, Clarendon.
Last week, Nkosi released a new single - a joint production between Unum Consultants and Ireland Records, called Better Day - on FM radio, but the song will be officially released online next month.
