Black Blunt rules St Ann - Ready for sound clash final

Black Blunt emerged the winner of the St Ann leg of the Guinness Sounds of Greatness (GSOG) competition after what patrons described as an intense battle for supremacy.

The Negril-based sound will advance to the June 29 final in Kingston for the $1 million grand prize.

"It's a really great feeling. You nuh see mi comfortable? all now mi nuh do the real work," said Avatar, selector for Black Blunt. "A 24 years mi a do this fah. Nuff people have wha dem born fi do, and because hard times take dem, dem give up on dem dreams. Mi a come from too far fi really mek de ting ya dead."

While he was hesitant to share his strategy for the final, Avatar expressed confidence in his ability to take home the ultimate title.

"Mi have nuff things in store fi the finals. Nuh bother ask me if mi ready. ask anybody else if them ready. Mi more than ready fi dis," he said.

DJ Naz Gurl Power, Road Karma Music, Mental Di Boss, Waffle Sound and Fire Biggs also participated in the St Ann leg, with Gurl Power taking the runner-up spot.

Black Blunt is now getting ready for the GSOG final at the Red Stripe Oval for a shot at the grand prize later this month.

The next finalist will be decided tonight as the GSOG team heads to Morant Bay.
