'Midfield', a dance move fit for the football season
The highly anticipated FIFA World Cup has begun in Russia, and although the black, green and gold of Jamaica will not be represented on the field, Jamaicans refuse to be left out of the excitement.
Dancehall artiste and leader of the Get There Squad Chi Ching Ching is promoting a new dance move called 'Midfield', and as the football fever builds, the dance is expected to blow up in the streets.
Speaking with Dancers' Paradise, Chi Ching Ching explained that the dance move is perhaps the easiest of the moves his team has come up with in recent times. He insists that one doesn't have to be a dancer or have knowledge of football to successfully execute the dance.
"Everybody want to try the dance move. There's no bathroom training required and no wall mirror needed. It's so easy," he said, trying to explain how it's done.
"Say you're Usain Bolt, and yuh deh pan the track about to run off, you set yuh hand inna di same position like you a run off. So, from yuh hear the punchline, yuh just run off, but not fast, just very slow, same place on the spot. Yuh nah run, enuh, but yuh moving on the spot like yuh running, and you do it repeatedly. If you move you right foot forward, yuh left foot is going back, and is the same motion with the hand."
He also directed persons to his Instagram page for a physical demonstration if the description doesn't paint the picture.
Ching, a fan of Argentina, said that everyone has been waiting for the World Cup, and the excitement has hit fever pitch now that the games have finally begun.
He believes that excitement can only spell success for his dance and the accompanying song.
"A World Cup time now, so everybody inna the football fever. So from me get the song out there inna di world weh people can get fi hear it, people a go gravitate to it, and the dance move easy, so people a go start do the dance. Midfield dance move, from yuh hear anything bout the World Cup right now, people a go just start do the dance. It's perfect for the season," he said.
"The dance just hit the streets last week, and trust me, because it so easy, as people hear the song or anything about the World Cup or even a nice riddim, dem just start do the dance."
The Midfield song is the third single off Ching's debut album called Turning Tables, which is produced by Dutty Rock Production. The album is expected to be released soon.
