Shorty, Kartel split? - Deejay's babymother mum on relationship status

Last Sunday was celebrated as Father's Day across the globe. However, while many celebrated the day with their family, dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel (or whomever is managing the artiste's social media) was busy making it known to the public that he and the mother of his children, Shorty, have parted ways.

A post made to the incarcerated deejay's official Instagram page on weekend alluded to the couple's split.

The post warned the public against entering into any business deals with Shorty because 'me (Kartel) and har nuh de!'

When The STAR contacted Vybz Kartel's close friend and business partner, Sikka Rhymes, for comment, he confirmed that the pair were no longer in a relationship.

BAD FOR BUSINESS

"He just wants to make it clear because people are going to her about business transactions and him no de pon dat," he said. "Vybz Kartel likes to keep his business professional because he is a real businessman and bad blood is simply bad for business ... anybody knows this."

In addition to not being authorised to carry out any business deals on the deejay's behalf, Sikka Rhymes revealed that Shorty is also barred from visiting Kartel in jail.

That would explain why Shorty was noticeably missing from the recent photos taken at his seasonal family visit in lock-up earlier this year.

Sikka Rhymes did not go into details regarding why Shorty was banned from visiting her baby daddy, opting only to say things between the two have changed.

"Shorty is not on Vybz Kartel's visiting list and once you are not on that list, then you are not allowed to visit. Everything was good when Kartel was at road but from him get lock up certain things change," he said.

When The STAR contacted Shorty to hear her side of the story, she did not sound pleased that our news team was calling her to question her about such personal matters.

"A dat unu call me fah?" she questioned. "Unu nuh have nothing fi do? Don't call back me phone," she said before hanging up.

Kartel and Shorty have had a long and colourful relationship spanning over a decade.

As for Vybz Kartel's business negotiations, Sikka Rhymes says he is the main business partner and all business arrangements should be made through him.
