Dancer Marvin the Beast says he is tired of people constantly trying to tear him down with rumours and allegations that, he says, are just plain hurtful. This comes after a man, who is believed to be a homosexual, claimed that he and Marvin were in a relationship.

The man, known as Little Kev, makes the revelation in a video now circulating on the Internet.

Speaking with THE STAR about the video and the slew of negative things that have emerged on social media about him over the past year, Marvin The Beast said that he cannot fathom why people constantly want to hurt him.

"I don't know why so much people envy me and wah see harm reach me. I'm not a bad person towards anybody. Me go my way, me do my job. I'm not looking problems, not disrespecting anybody. So I don't know where this coming from. Why so many people trying to get me down, for what reason?," he said, pointing out that the rumours also affect his family too.

"I'm tired of it. Mi mother been constantly crying because she can't deal wid all of this. She's so hurt by all of these things people have to say about me. Every other week is something else. Is like when dem call my name on social media, dem get a hype and people start to look pan dem, so dem just want to say bad things about me."

Marvin added that he believes the man in this particular video is being paid to spread lies.

"My number is posted on my Instagram page so anybody can call me. I hear that people are giving him money to do this to me. I don't even know this person. I swear on my life, mi family life," he said.

Being targeted

"The person contact me claiming that dem want to book me for a show. The person call and say dem name Crystal Barbie and dem booking me for a show in Atlanta in July. I never know it was a guy, but when the person start act a certain way me start ask, 'who is this', and right away Nickiesha (Marvin's girlfriend) turn to me and say: 'Dat don't sound like a woman, that sound like a man', and me hang up the phone and block the number and that was it."

Marvin said that while he has learnt to accept that being targeted in a certain way comes with being in the spotlight, he cannot understand why someone would want to spread such a rumour given Jamaica's homophobic environment. He noted that this latest rumour could cause people to harm him.

"Dem thing yah a serious thing because me can a walk pan di street and a man who is against homosexuals can see me and hurt me innocently," he said. "I don't see why dem a try get people fi harm me, and dem never have proof of the things yet. All of these bad things, over the years dem a call me name, dem nuh have no proof, and a dat me nuh understand. Unuh come with the proof come make people see why unuh have all these things to say about me."
