In the dancehall arena, it's quite common to find that music producers get a taste for the spotlight.

Well-known and respected producer Teetimus has been trying his hand as a performer, which hasn't been easy. But this year maybe his year. "A song soon supposed to drop. Mi do sumn for Boom Boom and him wah mi voice pon it," Teetimus told The STAR.

Soon to be released by World Boom Records is the Operation Riddim. "It ah mash up the streets already and it nuh release yet. Right now, we just ah wait on a few artistes to finish up dem song," Boom Boom said. The instrumental was 'built' by Teetimus, who will also voice on the record.

"Mi grow up and hear 'bout Teetimus. Most of the beat dem weh mi play is him build dem. So now, it's a dream come true to have Teetimus build my first dancehall instrumental," Boom Boom said.

As he works towards his goal of being centre stage, Teetimus continues to play his primary role as producer. Recently, he came out in support of Tifa's listening party for her debut album, Curry Goat And Champagne, on which he contributed.

One of Teetimus' most identifiably productions is Damian Marley's classic joint, Affairs Of The Heart. He has also worked on major releases like Mr Vegas' Bruk It, and So A Child May Follow featured on Marley's last Grammy-winning album Stony Hill.

"Me and Jr Gong work over the years and we have a chemistry, because me work pan Affairs Of The Heart. Him send fi mi fi do some tracks for the album and him pick one. It is a pleasure to be on a Grammy-winning album, and mi wah seh big up Jr Gong every time. Dem man deh a legend," he said.

To date, the most memorable song released by Teetimus as a recording artiste is Lifestyle Rich (2016), featuring the similarly eccentric Tanto Blacks. Two years on, the dream is still to be seen as a recording artiste.

Though Teetimus has begun making moves towards fulfilling his dream of being in the spotlight, there have been drawbacks. "Mi try wid nuff other team and it never work like that. So I have to come back to myself, and try do things myself not everything. But mi ah try search for people who believe inna mi," he told The STAR.
