While some persons will drive, ride or walk short distances to get to Capleton's St Mary Mi Come From show at the National Arena on November 10, Tacky loyalist Derrick 'Black X' Robinson will set out on a journey on foot through 13 parishes to get to the event.

Black X will start from the Tacky Falls in Islington, St Mary, at 2 p.m. on Monday.

"Islington is where 'The Fireman' Capleton come from, so it ties in nicely. We going right around Jamaica, the only parish that we going to leave out is St Thomas," he said.

Black X said he will walk through St Mary to Portland, and then on to Kingston, where he will make a few stops.

"I am scheduled to speak to the Grade Six students at the Calabar Infant, Primary and Junior High School on Sutton Street and I will do that about Wednesday," the poet and author told THE STAR. "I am gonna past through Waterhouse and say 'Hi' to my father because I haven't seen him since February.

After leaving Kingston, he said he will head to St Catherine, trod through Clarendon, march through Manchester, and then St Elizabeth.

From there, he plans to move on to Westmoreland, before heading to Hanover and then St James.

He will then trek through Trelawny and head to St Ann, before returning to St Mary, from where he will then proceed to the National Arena.

Black X said: "We are gonna finish on stage at about 11 p.m. on the 10th of November to say hi to the people."

PAYRESPECT

Pointing out that he has always been a supporter of the show, he said he feels a similar respect coming from the entertainer and his manager, who know of his walks.

"Mi remember one of the time mi did a walk from St Mary to Kingston and his manager, Miss Kemp, she bake a pudding and send it wid some drinks for us around the Junction; it was so heart-touching what she did, so we have to pay respect for that," he said.

Black X said that after 11 years of walking with a mission, he intends to follow the lead of Capleton in giving back.

"We (the Tacky Heritage group) want to follow in the trend to give back," he said, stating that after this walk, he will do two more before changing strategy to get Tacky to be recognised as a national hero.

"With these three walks, we will be giving back in phases. We will be creating our own niche. I will be giving back to the nation and make St Mary proud. The Capleton show is one of the standard-bearers that we look at and say that this is a model we would love to follow," he said.

However, he said he will not stop lobbying for Tacky to be named a national hero until the mission is complete.
