Danielle Riley was spellbound when she first saw former Fame 95FM disc jockey Nicholas Rasinski, more popularly known as DJ Nicco, showcase his skills at a Fame Road Party in Montego Bay, St James.

She recalls telling Brit'ni, her sister, "Mi a guh marry dah bredda deh, enuh."

How she was going to do that, she had no clue, since DJ Nicco had just become a coworker of her father, the Party Animal himself, DJ Kurt Riley.

"Following the first time my eyes first saw him, each time after that, I could only catch his head back, either going into or leaving the Fame 95FM studio, until we finally had the chance to exchange words," she said.

"He was like, 'hello', and I said hello, as if not fazed by his greeting, and he responded, 'she actually talks'. Anyone that knows me knows I am not a talker, so my friend properly introduced us."

The two played the friendship game for a couple of years. He offered to take her to and from school while she accompanied him to events until he proposed (not marriage proposal but relationship). DJ Nicco made the proposal by posting an image of the two of them together on social media with the caption, 'me and her and forever'.

Ten years later, Danielle is the mother of their two-year-old daughter, Mya, acting as an unofficial adviser to her DJ beau while working as the digital media assistant at Wisynco. Marriage is no longer a must-do on her list of things to do with DJ Nicco.

"He already refers to me as his fiancÈe when introducing me, but if it happens, it happens," she said.

Danielle said that the most challenging period for the couple was navigating the first few months of parenting.

"I had lived with Nicholas before I became pregnant, but before she was born I went back to my mom's house, as he was travelling and had a lot of bookings, just to be close to where I know I had the help in case of anything, and when I finally moved back it was terrifying.

"We were both tired, and it was a challenge trying to figure out how to be good parents with just us and Mya. otherwise, the hours he works are fine. There are times I end up working at the same place he is playing.

As the daughter of a disc jockey, Danielle wanted to take a spin at the profession, but her father said that the music industry was ungrateful, especially to females, which made her reconsider her career path.

"If him don't play good I tell him. I will be the one asking, 'wah yuh just do?' because I think being supportive is to be honest and to give constructive advice. It is the same for me; sometimes I have an idea that I can't flesh it out and he talks me through it," she said.

"We are both mad, spur-of-the-moment people, and I am happy that we share a love of music, comics, or Marvel-type productions."

She says she is happy with curling up on the couch with DJ Nicco, watching series such as Flash and The Outcasts, knowing that she is secure with him.
