As passionate as Clarendon-based reggae singer TruVice was about music while growing up, his initial occupation of choice took him in a different direction.

He worked at a security company in Trinidad and Tobago for five years, beginning in 2007.

He recalls his first set of lyrics being born out of a late-night session of playing dancehall rhythms and entertaining his co-workers.

"That dream to become a recording artiste always existed. I would imagine myself performing in front of thousands of people on some of the biggest shows, so I was happy when I discovered I had the ability to create music that would not only entertain but that touched the hearts of people," he said.

TruVice, whose given name is Adrian Williams, did not hesitate to return to Jamaica in the summer of 2012 in pursuit of establishing a career in music.

But he was met with tragedy when his son died in an unfortunate drowning accident at Salt River.

Like most artistes, that frustration was released in the form of a song.

"It gave birth to the Run and Be Free track that is a dedication to my boy," he said.

Six years later, TruVice is satisfied with the completion of the seven-track Soaring High EP, which also features the track.

"My music can truly be described as soul food, with every song telling its own story," said the baritone-voiced reggae singer.

His powerful vocals are evident in the title track, which features fellow recording artiste Prablem The Substance and captures the positive message of 'greatness ahead'.

The tracks take on the fusion of secular music religious music, soul, and rhythm and blues, which TruVice believes will be added motivation for persons to listen to the production.

"There's a track to soothe every mood," he said.
