Jamaica-born dancehall fusion recording artiste Stylo G is celebrating the collaboration with American rapper/singer Nicki Minaj on the remix of his single 'Touchdown' previously released in September.

The original track that featured Ding Dong created a buzz within street dancing circles. The London-based artiste told THE WEEKEND STAR, "This connection with Nicki Minaj started from she tweeted the lyrics of Yu Zimmie that featured female British rappers, Ms Banks and Lisa Mercedez."

Stylo G continued: "She started liking a few things I would post, and I would do the same until we exchanged words online through social media."

He said that his interest in hip hop grew the more he created an alliance with the collective of grime (a version of hip hop and electronic dance music in London) recording artistes.

"I was always trying to contribute to placing dancehall on the map, especially in Europe, where reggae is more popular but over the years I decided it was the right time to branch out," he said.

He said that within a few days after sending Minaj the demo and rhythm of Touchdown, she sent back a recording. Dancehall heavy hitter Vybz Kartel is also featured on the remix.

"To have the two of them on one song, that is a dream record there," he said. "It is the best of both worlds and it is gonna benefit dancehall and Jamaica as much as me; doing the song with Nicki Minaj is gonna get me a wider fan base."

The deejay said he is working to have a video project out for the remix but nothing has been set in stone.

"I am satisfied knowing that we can create damage with a big song circulating the airwaves," he said.
