It was a match made in musical heaven. The consummate crooner, Beres Hammond, alongside the man with the deep, raspy vocals, Buju Banton, in their first collaboration, 'Falling in Love All Over Again'.

After that hit song, the two went on to share a long and lasting professional and personal relationship creating other hits, including A Little More Time and Pull It Up.

Beres told THE STAR that after so many years locked up, Buju's release was long overdue.

"Him should a touch road long time. When Buju out here him keep things in check musically and physically," the crooner said in a recent interview.

"Some youth wouldn't gwan wid so much foolishness because he is a man weh will call you out, both musically and physically, to get a hold of yuhself," Beres added.

It is unclear whether Buju, who arrived in Jamaica on Friday, hours after he was released from a United States federal prison, has met up with his old pal.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him. When him come mi a go gwan mek him do him ting and if mi haffi run go up deh one time mi a go, and go and rekindle some work," Beres said.

Despite the 18-year age difference, Hammond said that the two men have always created 'magic' when they get together.

"We did quite a few of what I call nice songs, interesting songs. We complement each other - It works," Beres said.

He continued: "Maybe the two of us have different kind of mindset as to how we are going to go forward with life, but it blends. It connects somewhere when it comes to me and him doing a song. It's like the brains focus same way; it's a beautiful thing."

Beres said having shared the stage with Buju on previous occasions, the last being a few months before the artiste ran into legal troubles in the US, he is looking forward to once again perform alongside the Not An Easy Road singer.

"People always look forward to that (performing together). I hope they still have that feeling," he said.
