Dancehall diva Keiva is gearing up to host her first birthday party in four years.

The event is set for Thursday, February 28, at the Rhythm Bistro Lounge on Constant Spring Road, St Andrew, and is expected to bring out some of the biggest stars in the dancehall sphere.

In an interview with THE STAR, Keiva said that after taking a break from hosting big bashes over the last few years, she decided to host a celebration because 2019 is a special year.

The 'diva' said that she had been reflecting on life and realised she was blessed to have lived another year and just wanted to let loose with her fans and well-wishers.

celebrating a milestone

"I decided to keep my party cause I'm celebrating a milestone," she said, laughing. "I don't want to disclose that (my age) yet because I am planning something for the reveal, but I am just happy to have life. A lot of people don't live to see my age, so I'm very happy and excited and couldn't wait for my birthday. When it comes to my birthday parties, you have to expect nothing but happiness, dancing, enjoyment, and lots of stars."

Keiva, who is also a mother, said that while she will be 'turning up' for her birthday, she wants to do so responsibly. Therefore, the party will end early.

"It's an early celebration. I'm not interested in getting out of bed at 3 a.m. to go to any parties again. It's gonna be on a Thursday, so I want to end early so people can go home, rest, go to work and take the kids to school on time."

The event is expected to start at 8:30 p.m. and end at 1:30 a.m. The birthday girl will be cutting her cake at 11:30 p.m. sharp. Music will be provided by Boom Boom, Harry Hype and DJ Chuck Boss. Admission is free.
