Cocoa Tea remakes classic for Buju

Cocoa Tea remade his popular song, Holy Mount Zion, and paid homage to Buju Banton, a man he described as family.

The reggae artiste, who postponed an overseas tour in order to ensure he performs at the Gargamel's first concert in the Long Walk to Freedom Tour, was the sixth artiste to grace the stage tonight. In addition to bringing on Koffee - much to the delight of the patrons, Cocoa Tea raised the house in his song dedicated to Buju Banton.

"Sweet, sweet Jamaica, Jah Jah send Buju Banton forward to we,"   he sang.  

The singer said that many persons never know they would live to see the second coming of the Grammy-award winning artiste Mark Myrie.

"After eight years of trials and incarcaration, nuff a dem caah believe Gargamel stand strong. Dats why me glad me get the opportiunity fi come, to witness this long, long walk to freedom."

Buju, 45, was arrested in December 2009, months after he was met by a convicted drug trafficker on a flight from Spain who sought to set up a cocaine deal for him.

Following his conviction in February 2011, Buju was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.

Federal prosecutors required two trials to convict the reggae icon, who was targeted and pursued by an undercover federal informant for more than a year. 

Buju Banton fans will tonight see their superstar perform in Jamaica for the first time in over a decade.
