Grammy-nominated singer Etana, whose Reggae Forever World Tour has taken her to the Motherland, specifically Nairobi in Kenya, is bowled over by the response of Kenyans to Jamaican music.

"They know every single song, and they sing them word for word," she told THE STAR excitedly, while at the airport's departure lounge last week. "The promoters expected to have about 3,000 people; they ended up with about 7,000. It was oversold."

Etana, who was booked for a concert dubbed 'Etana Returns', was officially welcomed by the Cabinet secretary in the Ministry of Tourism & Wildlife, Najib Balala. At a short reception, Etana was presented with gifts from the official

The reggae artiste spent a few days leading up to the show interacting with the people and doing interviews with the media.

Quizzed on what she liked best about Kenya, she stated, "Three things that I am loving about Kenya would be their food, their style and the way they love reggae music."

But still on a high from the concert, Etana continued to praise her fans.

"They knew the songs word for word. It was like a choir. I Am Not Afraid, My Man, Wifey, they knew all the songs. I don't have to sing, they just took it," she said.

After the show, Etana took to social media to show her appreciation to her fans and the promotional team. "The love was overwhelming. Kenya, thank you for making my return a memorable experience," she posted.

Etana, who is continuing her world tour, is scheduled to make a stop in Montego Bay at Reggae Sumfest, where she will be performing on Night Two, alongside Buju Banton, Beres Hammond and others.

She is promising fans a statement-making performance.

"I am just going to put on a wicked show. One of the best shows I have ever put on in my life was on Sumfest. I am not given a full hour to perform, but I am going to put on a show that makes a statement. A show that says 'Etana'," she said.
