After more than a year off the dance circuit, DHQ Nickeisha received a warm welcome when she made her performance debut in Central Village, St Catherine, last weekend.

In a video posted to her Instagram account, fans could be heard screaming at the announcement of the dancer/artiste's arrival, and social media users have been echoing the excitement with comments of support and encouragement.

"The response to my return has been very great. On Saturday, people were bombarding me for pictures and screaming," she told THE WEEKEND STAR. "I'm back to dancing at events and doing my music, so people can expect nothing but greatness from the queen."

Nickeisha gave birth to her daughter (fathered by dancer Marvin the Beast) in January, and says it was a bit challenging maintaining her low profile, as party promoters sought her out for several events.

She added that some promoters even wanted her to perform shortly after she gave birth but she refused to leave her newborn.

"It was hard, 'cause you know bookings offer money for you to get things done, but eventually, yuh haffi turn dem down 'cause me cya go out there leave me young baby weh just born," she said. "People been calling me from me just have baby. Me haffi turn dem down, until I decided to take the show on Saturday and other shows further down. Some of them were understanding and said whenever they have a next event they will call me."

Nickeisha rose to prominence after earning the St Catherine Dancehall Queen title in 2013, and has added recording artiste to her resume, with tracks like Clean and Fresh, featuring Marvin, and Happy Life with Kip rich.

Alongside her Unique Entertainment management team, she is planning a Canada and US tour, and also has dates locally in St Thomas, Clarendon, Westmoreland and St Elizabeth.

She said her "princess" will be cared for by her mother and Marvin's mother in her absence.

"I have so many things coming up, like dance classes and songs I want to drop soon," she said. "I've been dancing from me inna me mother belly. I really love it, so it will never get boring to me. This is what I love and it is great that I get paid to do something I love."
