Bounty and Beenie ready to ignite Sumfest stage

Dancehall superstar Beenie Man says patrons will be treated to top-class entertainment when he and his old rival, Bounty Killer, take to the stage for Reggae Sumfest on Dancehall Night.

The pair gave fans a taste of what to expect come July 19, as they thrilled guests at a media appreciation mingle at Downsound Record's Belmont Road headquarters on Wednesday night. While it will not be the first time the pair will share the same stage in recent times, it will be the first joint set at Reggae Sumfest.

"We've been working together, but at Sumfest is a different thing," Beenie Man said.

"Me feel great bout it. It was a good move by Joe and him team to bring us together. The people dem of dancehall, who love dancehall from dem time deh till now, a guh turn up fi da performance yah. Although a nuh di first we a guh do dis thing yah together, nuff people still nuh see we share the stage yet. And all who never see dat yet, a guh deh a Sumfest," Beenie Man said.

The King of the Dancehall is of the view that more people will be going to Sumfest this year.

"Me know nuff people weh never did a plan fi go Sumfest till dem hear say me and Bounty deh pan it. Me just only hope we get the time weh we can entertain the fans dem the right way, because me know dem a look forward to it," Beenie Man said.

NO LONGER RIVALS

Bounty Killer referred to himself and Beenie Man as 'idols', pointing out that they have made the transition from being rivals. He said that their performance at Sumfest will be memorable.

"Reggae Sumfest a we premier concert in dancehall and reggae, so a di world stage from Jamaica. Sumfest stage gonna be a rage, from rival to idol. Reggae Sumfest is one of the concerts that we've been doing the longest inna Jamaica," he said on stage on Wednesday.

According to Bounty Killer, money has never stopped him or Beenie Man from showing up at Sumfest.

"Me always remember during the epitome of we career, we never stick up the promoter, we never had a negotiation problem, because we love the music and we love the culture and we love we people. It's not all about the money, it's about the music. Our music, our culture."
