Tashae records with her idol Romain Virgo

Upon meeting her idol Romain Virgo, 10-year-old singer Tashae Silvera got much more than she bargained for.

Rather than just a meet-and-greet with a photo op, the accomplished reggae singer invited his young admirer to Big Yard studio for a recording session.

The session took place last weekend, when the melodic pair were finally introduced to each other. And while Tashae had an experience beyond her wildest dreams, Virgo, too, found himself in awe at the little singing sensation.

"She can really and truly sing. One point, she was quick to learn and willing to try. On the original track, the key is pretty low for her. But to see how much she was trying to sing what we told her ... I can see her being a very good singer in the future," Virgo told THE STAR.

The original track is Dutty Man, a Virgo song Tashae covered which caught the singer's attention, and moved him to reach out to the young girl's family.

After the formalities were out of the way, Virgo and Tashae connected and settled in the booth to work out a remix for the song.

"We did a whole lot of takes. Adding her to the track will make it more interesting, and better. This is a young person reaching out to the world, to tell the world to take care of our children. I'm really proud of her," he added.

In addition to Tashae's raw talent, Virgo suggested that she has the attitude and the support necessary to enjoy a successful career as a recording artiste.

"She was very punctual. She was there half an hour before the session started. It was my first time meeting her. She smiled so bright ... . It gave the session a good start," he said.

Undoubtedly, the winning persona is fed by Carlesha Scott, Tashae's adoring mother - who Virgo also admires.

He said: "She has good parenting. Her mommy is rooting for her and supporting her."

"100 per cent," Scott added.

Scott reports that her daughter had such a wonderful time, that she can't wait to get back in the booth.

"She wants to go there every day. She really wants to go back, but I tell her she'll have to wait on that. Everything will happen in its time. And she did so well! Romain made changes to the song to try put her in there. He'd ask 'You can hit dah note deh?' Until him seh him goin' stop ask, because she do it! It was all fun, all smiles."

"I think when she's about 15 or 16, is when her true potential will come out. I want her to keep this momentum. I hope the track won't take too long to come out," Virgo said.
