Patrons attending the inaugural Falmouth Food Festival this Saturday should be in for a musical blast as some of the nation's popular crowd-pleasers are slated to grace the stage.

The likes of Gage, Jah Vinci and Flyght, who formerly performed as Blugo, as well as veteran crooner Ken Boothe, are booked to perform at the event.

"We believe this grand mix of talent will ensure that both the children and their parents will be properly entertained," said Jeffrey Brown, one of the persons behind the staging of the festival.

The event will take place at the Hague Showground in Trelawny. The promoters hope it will add another dimension to life in the resort town.

"Falmouth is a rapidly expanding town, from a business point of view, but it is short of high-quality social and entertainment activities," said Brown.

This Saturday's event, which is slated to start at 10 a.m. and continue until midnight, promises to be a gastronomic delight with dishes to suit just about everyone, including hard-to-satisfy group such as vegetarians and vegans.

"Our hope is to create a signature for the entire family because unfortunately, while we spend a lot of time talking about keeping families intact, we don't have many entertainment events where parents can take their children without fear of being bombarded by vulgar or otherwise inappropriate stage performances," Brown said.
