Deago Man banking on ‘Ankle Hype’
Deago Man, a Bahamas-based recording artiste, is not about to lift his foot off the gas pedal with the buzz surrounding his catchy song Ankle Hype.
In fact, he is gearing towards greater promotion and is expected to shoot a music video for the song in Jamaica.
Deago Man told THE STAR, "This song a buss di place over here and I get the videos from Jamaica. I want to do the video and a Jamaica it afi do. If it was to happen here (The Bahamas) I would do it a million times already. In Jamaica I will get the real authentic flavour, no water down thing."
The song is produced by Sunshine Crooks Production.
Deago Man recorded his first song at age 16 at a recording studio in Half-Way Tree. He then moved to The Bahamas where he currently records and works a day job.
"The music is picking up but bills have to be paid," he said.
Among his inspirations are Beenie Man and Bounty Killer.
Born and raised in Islington, St Mary, Deago Man went to school with deejays Capleton and the late Pan Head, and hoped to one day be given a similar platform.
He said that despite leaving Jamaica to create opportunities elsewhere, he has never left the music.
"A this mi love, music. My song Yardie have up to 15,000 views. Come Money, a song I did with Colin McDonald, is also doing well. I did Mother Earth in Bahamas too. I also went to Florida where I lived for a while and did Yow Mama and If Love, featuring Diamond, a female artiste," Deago Man told THE STAR.
Deago Man says his style and approach are different and authentic, and separate him from everyone else.
"Mi have a talk weh mi say 'Black God'. A it mi a run wid and in everything I do. It vast different cause nothing can beat original. You can copy, but it won't be the real flavour," Deago Man said.
