With the Yuletide season approach-ing, reggae singer Prophecy says he will be hosting a musical festival in hopes of raising money for charity.

The event, dubbed Reggae Life Jamaica Music Festival, will take place at the Goodyear Oval in St Thomas on Boxing Day, December 26.

In an interview with THE STAR, the entertainer said he is hoping to raise at least J$5 million, which will go towards purchasing medical equipment for the Princess Margaret Hospital in the parish.

"I born at the Princess Margaret Hospital and that institution has saved the life of thousands of persons, but like most public hospitals in Jamaica, it is lacking a lot of resources. This concert is not just another entertainment package, but we are hoping to save lives with this venture," he said.

The event will also have performances from Beenie Man, Big Youth, Duane Stephenson, Hero, Bushman and others.

Before the main event, there will be a 5K run, dubbed 'Run for Life Reggae Life', followed by a day of activities for the children.

As they have done since 2013, Reggae Life Jamaica Music Festival and the Prophecy Youth Foundation will once again partner with United Kingdom-based foundation Rejuvenate Jamaica Hospital in order to raise funds.

"Presently, there are containers to be cleared at the wharf. These have items to be distributed between Kingston Public and St Ann's Bay Hospital. Our foundation boosts health, that is one of our main priorities. We are just asking everyone to just come out and show support to this worthy cause," he said.

Earlier this year, the foundation donated much-needed medical equipment to the Victoria Jubilee Hospital. Among the equipment handed over were five incubators, phototherapy lamps and two blood pressure machines.
