November 29, 2019

After being touted as the next big thing in dancehall by incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel, fast-rising deejay Sikka Rymes says he's finally coming into his own as an entertainer.

Pointing out how much he has grown over the last two years, the deejay says his latest single, Wul it Out, is testament to his musical maturity.

The song, which landed a spot on YouTube's top 20 list of trending videos in Jamaica last week, was released on November 15 and has gained close to 200,000 views.

A delighted Sikka Rymes told THE WEEKEND STAR that the achievement reflects his growth.

"Yu see Wul It Out, is my first solo record to trend on YouTube, and to me that means I have come of age as an artiste. A nuff work me put in consistently, so to see this development, I am proud," he said.

An ode to his mentor, as well as Gaza member Shawn Storm, Sikka Rymes says the song holds a special place in his heart.

" Wul It Out is not just any song, it is dear to me because I have people I care about behind bars. Prison is not a place that I wish on anybody, and it's not an easy situation to cope with. So the best way to communicate this message is through music. Plus, it's a positive song that mama can listen to, so mi proud of this one differently," he said.

In the video, an imprisoned Sikka Rymes sings about the woes of being incarcerated, pointing out poor living conditions and lack of emotional support.

"I wanted to show the youths that prison is not a bed of roses, and I hope they get that when they listen the song and watch the video," he said.

The single was produced by Lampshade and radio DJ/producer DJ Lux.
