Nigerian explains her reaction to Toni-Ann Singh's win at Miss World
Miss Nigeria 2019 Nyekachi Douglas said that she was genuinely happy for Toni-Ann Singh who was announced Miss World 2019 on Saturday.
“I’m sure people thought I thought I won, but I was just so happy for her. She was amazing. A lot of times in these competitions, there are a lot of times you’re like ‘oh my God, this is really too much for me. There was a time I wondered what’s my purpose? She’s the one who would be like ‘listen, you got this,’” Douglas said.
The Nigerian was one of Singh's biggest cheerleader on Saturday when 23-year-old St Thomas native was crowned Miss World in London, England.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says he will be collaborating with the Culture and Gender Affairs Minister Olivia Grange to invite Miss Nigeria and Miss India to Jamaica at the earliest possible time.
“I’m definitely coming to Jamaica. Definitely,” Douglas, is a public health student and aspiring model, told Jamaican Oroyo Eubanks in London.
