In one of his latest tracks, incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel expressed that with his dancehall king crown safely affixed to his head, only fast food giants, Burger King could ever come close. “Any other King a Burger King,” he sings in the track ADIADKING. And it seems that dancehall fans agree.

In a poll conducted by a popular social media site, it asked out of Alkaline, Popcaan, Masicka and Burger King, who would be suitable to take over the ‘King of Dancehall’ title if Kartel should relinquish his position this year.

Based on user response, only Burger King would be suitable to wear the crown.

Despite some users pointing out that as Kartel’s protégé, Popcaan should be the successor, even Popcaan himself agreed that the fast food chain should get the title.

“Give Burger King eeh crown, me nuh need no man crown,” he posted, complete with laughing emojis.

In an interview with THE STAR last October, artiste manager Richard Roach weighed in on the never-ending debate of who is qualified to be crowned dancehall king.

Listing Kartel among those worthy of the crown, Roach expressed that for an artiste to be king, his contribution to dancehall must be unquestionable and he must be respectful and respected, while maintaining a high musical standard in terms of his output.

Despite being behind bars since 2012, Kartel has managed to maintain his stronghold on the industry. Many believe that the Worl’ Boss has no competition when it comes to music.

In many other polls being conducted as part of annual reviews, Kartel has been coming out victorious as male dancehall artiste of the year, with Popcaan, Teejay, Alkaline and Masicka the ‘teacha’s’ closest competition.
