Inspired by what he claims are real-life events, up-and-coming artiste Rollie Fresh has released a new single titled ' Stalker'.

The track chronicles the obsessive nature of a scorned lover. Rollie Fresh says he has been going through his own personal hell at the hands of a woman he says has been using social media to spread lies that the two were intimately involved.

"It's been happening for about two weeks now. This girl has been sending in videos to Pinkwall saying we slept together. She send me a whole heap a DMs, she just a stalk me," he said, pointing out that despite popular belief, the videos are not part of a publicity stunt. "People will say what they want to say. I can't control what others think or say, but at the end of the day, I've been going through some things and I decided to write a song about it. People probably would never understand because as a man, a woman a run yuh dung is considered a big thing. But sometimes when yuh done, yuh just done, and yuh want people to leave you alone."

The song was released last Friday on YouTube and across all other digital streaming platforms. Rollie Fresh says so far, the response to the song has been good.

"People are enjoying it. They're saying it's very relatable. There are a lot of people out there who have ended relationships, but the person they were with refuses to believe it and so they become stalkers, watching social media, sending DMs. Yuh just affi stand firm when yuh see these things start happen, because you don't want things to escalate."

Fresh, who has been pursuing music professionally since 2004, says he has faced some obstacles on his journey. He says the entertainment industry is one of the most difficult spaces to manoeuvre because of the gatekeepers.

"One of the biggest issues for me in music is that sometimes when yuh record a song for someone, is like it just gets stuck there on their computer. Is like it's so hard for people to play your songs and send it a road. That's one of the reasons I started my own label and began doing my own thing," he said. "I don't want to be boxed in by people, because this is my calling. In this business, you have to kick down doors for yourself and get certain persons to work with you. You have to make connections for yourself."
