After their upcoming performance was cancelled in Canada due to the dreaded COVID-19, reggae singers Dorman Brown and Najay James have penned the lyrics to a soon-to-be-released single, Take A Look Into Ourselves.

“We have been working as part of reggae singer Guidance’s team for about a year now and were slated to go on tour with him soon, but this was postponed due to the virus and a few days later the idea came to me to just write the lyrics. The virus is bad but it also gives us a chance to reflect on our lives and make changes if possible,” Brown told THE STAR.

Take A Look Into Ourselves is slated to be released during the course of next month and, according to James, they will be putting in a whole lot of promotion into the track.

Universal anthem

“I am hoping that this single will become a universal anthem because all that we are promoting is only love because when coronavirus goes away, unity is what is going to build us. Picking up the pieces, financially and every other ‘ally’ is not going to be easy, so we have to look into ourselves and know that each one help one. We could have released it earlier but there are a lot of tracks being done now so we want ours to be timely,” he said.

They added that although the virus has placed a damper on their income, they are still making very good use of the time musically.

“We are still rehearsing and tuning up our voices at home and we have gone more in depth with song writing, so later this year, we will be releasing other tracks both as a duo and individually. We are also hoping to record a couple singles with Guidance as well,” Brown said.
