Teen pushing authentic reggae with own label

Independent music label Tasjay Productions continues to be a driving force for authentic Jamaican reggae music in the international marketplace.

One of its new offerings comes from Rad Dixon, the label's flagship artiste. He has done a collaboration with Kimmy which will be released in May.

"We released Horace Martin's Arise album in March. We also have Rad Dixon's Change EP, with five new tracks, with an exciting, unpredictable kind of reggae vibes which is on all online platforms," said Tasjay Smith, the 17 year-old CEO of Tasjay Productions. "We are also doing a various-artistes album project, featuring the likes of Anthony B, Lucio and Little Hero.

Smith, who was born in New York to Jamaican parents, said the tracks on the project run the gamut of genres and themes.

The album will also feature tracks from Tony Anthony, Patcha Blacks and Jah Touch.

Other upcoming projects include Teacha Dee and Rad Dixon's single Keep The Children Safe, and another reggae-dancehall album.

Rachaad Amarjii adds new spin to 'Golden Pen'

Reggae singer Rachaad Amarjii has high hopes for his new single Golden Pen, which was done in tandem with veteran reggae singer Sylford Walker.

The song is a remake of Walker's single, Jah Golden Pen, which was recorded and released on the Joe Gibbs label in 1975.

The new version was produced by Sun Vibes Productions and released along with an accompanying music video in February.

"I am getting a lot of positive feedback about this song from people all over the world. It has the potential to be a big hit. Despite what's going on with the COVID-19 crisis, I'm still pushing my song. However, because of the COVID-19 outbreak, most of the promotion is being done online," he said.

The St Thomas-born singer is set to release a seven-track EP titled Black As I Am this summer. He is also promoting a single titled Can't Believe.

Rachaad Amarjii, given name Rachaad Amarjii Green, was born and raised in Yallahs, and launched his recording career with the song Bus Shot in 2010.
