A meeting to discuss business between artiste manager Romeich Major and gospel artiste Jermaine Edwards led to deep introspection at the Romeich Headquarters recently.

That period of reflection turned into a moment of prayer, which later manifested into a new single titled, Watch Over Me.

According to both Major and Edwards, the world has been bombarded with so much negativity since the start of 2020, they believe the time has come to use music to balance the scales.

"The song was inspired by the fact that there is so much negative force trying to stop people from achieving the goals they set out to achieve. We have seen those forces turn up in the form of friends, enemies and natural occurrences. But this song serves as a prayer to God, asking Him to watch over us and protect us on this journey," said Edwards. "I believe it's gonna be a big hit because it's current and relevant to all that's going on around us."

A secular nature

The gospel artiste said that although Major is affiliated with dancehall, and most of his projects take on a secular nature, he had no objections about working with him on the song.

"God say we must be the salt and light of the Earth, and it makes no sense being around a lot of salt and light. You have to go where the salt will not be wasted and where the light can shine, so I was happy to work with him," he said.

"Besides, I like Romeich. His work ethic reminds me a lot of myself. He is a dedicated marketer who is adamant about achieving his targets, whatever they may be."

Major says he has much respect for Edwards, who he describes as very business-like.

"He's all about perfection and so working with him was a very good experience. His qualities are rare to find in an artiste because most of them are talented but their work ethics are poor," he said.

As to whether he would sign Edwards to his Romeich Entertainment label, Major said: "My hands are full at the moment as far as being a manager, but a God make plans fi things, we nuh make plans. I'm not going to say yes or no because at the end of the day, anything is possible."
