A viral video of her endorsing dancehall legend Bounty Killer back in 2017 caused her to resurface on the music scene.

Before that, 2013 Magnum Queen of Dancehall, Sassy Silva, was relatively quiet on the entertainment circuit.

Following her re-emergence, the artiste forged a partnership with veteran artiste and music producer Delly Ranx that she hoped would lead to her finally recognising her full potential in music. That has not quite happened for her, but she has no intention of giving up on her dream of making it big in the industry.

"I am still at the struggling point, but I am seeing brighter days ahead and with that vision, I am moving forward. I haven't achieved the ultimate goal, nor am I even anywhere close to where I thought I'd be in music, but persistence is a must. God rewards effort and I'm sure he sees mine, so it's only a matter of time. What's most important is that I still believe in me," she said. "I am a walking catalogue of music. I am always writing and recording. I just need a team with a vision that's even brighter than mine."

Sassy Silva told Weh Dem Up To that it's that persistent nature that has caused her to catch the attention of some overseas producers, with whom she is currently working. "They seem to recognise and acknowledge that I've got talent, so big up Otantic records, based in France. My only wish now is that Jamaican producers will see the same things these overseas producers see and allow me the chance to breakthrough on local soil," she said. She said that while local producers do support up-and-coming talent, their scope seems to be limited to a certain 'type' of artiste. "If yah sing foolishness and yuh bleach out yuh skin, yah go buss fi sure; but the real artiste dem still a struggle, and it matters not our opinion cuz it nah go change," she said. "Still, I am just praying the producers go back to appreciating real talent."

Sassy Silva said that she has learnt much about herself and the industry over the last few years, and now knows what it takes to keep her career on the right track. She admits that she should have done more with the buzz she got after the Bounty Killer endorsement, but was unsure of the steps to take to capitalise on the attention. "I now have a clear vision of how I'd like to see myself in this industry and I can say, 'Sassy, this is where you're going'. Now, I can actually steer my career towards that goal," she said.

Sassy Silva is currently promoting her newest single, Gwaan Hold Your Own, a motivational track geared at inspiring people to continue pushing even when things seem tough.
