Jada Kingdom continues to thrive in 2020
Dancehall artiste Jada Kingdom is once again trending on YouTube as her latest single Budum races towards the 500,000 views mark on YouTube since its release four days ago.
This follows sharp on the success of her last single WiN. Kingdom told THE STAR that despite the adversities of 2020, "it's been about how you adapt and survive in these terrible times".
"You can either let it consume and defeat you or you can use it as an inspiration to go harder and that's what I've done," she said. "I have put all the energy into uplifting myself and others through my music and content."
Kingdom shared that Budum's success is kind of a surprise as the track came about from just having fun at home with her man.
"He was beating a drum pattern on the table and I just started freestyling to it. I wanted to put out a song that was about dancing and having fun and captured the real dancehall flavour," she said. Kingdom said that the response to Budum is amazing and inspires her to go harder.
"It has been added to a bunch of playlists on Apple Music, Spotify and Tidal as well and is also doing really well on Audiomack," she said. "We just dropped it (the music video) and so we are going to continue to push and promote it across all platforms. It's been getting some radio spins locally and overseas so we will continue the push."
She added that since the release of WiN, she has watched her momentum grow even more and says she is just happy the track was able to resonate with people.
"I'm humbled to know it has inspired people and given them courage to try again and keep moving forward even when there seems to be no hope. The video is also very real and honest and shows humble beginnings that many Jamaicans and people around the world can relate to and have been through," she said.
